Orthodontics & Braces in Houston
Having a misaligned smile can cause problems with your dental health as well as with your appearance. In many cases, misaligned teeth can make your bite come together incorrectly and cause jaw pain, periodontal disease, and decay due to overlapping teeth.
At HD Dentistry, we offer orthodontic treatment to patients of all ages to permanently improve both oral health and appearance.
When you have a misaligned bite, one of the most common ways to address the issue is with traditional orthodontics. Traditional orthodontics uses brackets and wires to gradually move your teeth over time.
An exam with Dr. Le will help him determine a treatment plan that is right for you. He will outline your treatment as well as the desired outcome so that your teeth come together correctly, your smile looks straight and beautiful, and your jaw is in the appropriate orthopedic position.
We will attach your brackets to your teeth using a special type of dental cement. Next, your wires will attach to your brackets and will guide your teeth to their ideal location. Periodic appointments will allow us to make adjustments and keep your teeth moving in the right direction.
Patients who opt for traditional orthodontics may also benefit from various phases of treatment and use additional methods, such as expanders, to address jaw problems and over-crowding while growing is still in progress. Early intervention orthodontics can decrease and minimize treatment as your child ages.
For adult patients with overcrowding, overlapping, underbites, overbites, complex treatment plans, or crossbites, traditional orthodontics may provide the best results to achieve both health and comfort with your smile.
Invisalign Clear Aligner Braces
For older teens and adults who want a cosmetically straight smile or have simple treatment plans to achieve their health goals, Invisalign provides a convenient solution without a mouth full of brackets and wires.
Invisalign works by creating a series of clear aligner trays that fit your teeth snugly and are nearly invisible. Each new tray brings you closer to your ideal smile.
We will take impressions in our office, and our laboratory will create your custom aligner trays. You will wear each set of trays for approximately two weeks before switching to the next set. Your trays will gradually move your teeth using low-force pressure.
One of the most convenient benefits of using Invisalign is that your trays are removable so you can eat, brush, and floss normally. It is important, however, to wear your trays at least 22 hours each day to keep your treatment on track.
Both types of orthodontics will require the regular use of a dental retainer to keep your teeth from drifting back to their original location. We will create a comfortable, custom retainer and provide you with instructions on how often to use it once your treatment is complete.
